The AI Medical Society Burnout Assessment

AI can't fix your burnout if you don't know which kind you have.

I built this because of a question that kept nagging me: if we pour this much of ourselves into making other people healthier — who's making sure we're okay?

I'm Dr. Reynold Duclas Jr. — anesthesiologist, and the physician behind the AI Medical Society. I got passionate about AI not because I love technology. I got passionate about it because I saw what it could do for the people I care about most: clinicians who give everything to their patients and have nothing left for themselves, and the patients who deserve caregivers who are whole, present, and well.

But before AI or any tool can help, you need to know where you actually stand. And here's the problem: burnout isn't one thing. It's 9 measurable dimensions — and the one hurting you most is rarely the one you'd guess.

A physician who sleeps fine and loves their patients can still be burned out through moral injury — being forced to make decisions that violate what you believe is right. Or through autonomy erosion — watching policies override your clinical judgment. These don't look like the burnout you see talked about online. But they change how you make clinical decisions, how long your career lasts, and what you bring home to the people who depend on you.

Here's what I know from experience: the physicians who burn out the hardest aren't the ones who don't care. They're the ones who care the most. The ones who stay late, who carry cases home in their head, who absorb the weight of decisions that no one else in the room fully understands. Burnout doesn't come for the disengaged. It comes for you.

And the cruelest part? It's invisible. You can be burned out across 3 or 4 dimensions and still show up every day performing at a high level — until you can't. The cliff doesn't announce itself. But the warning signs are measurable, right now, in the next 5 minutes.

18 questions. One at a time. No account required. At the end, you'll see your full burnout profile across all 9 dimensions — sorted by severity, with specific guidance for each one. You'll see what's driving it, what it's costing you, where AI can help close the loops that are draining your bandwidth, and where only human support will do.

Why this lives in the AI Medical Society: Because we believe the people who take care of everyone else deserve someone taking care of them. That starts with knowing where you stand — honestly, specifically, not as a hashtag. And it continues with real tools, real community, and real systems that give you back the time, energy, and agency that this profession has been quietly taking from you.

Takes about 5 minutes. Your results are private unless you choose to share them.
